Learning Disabilities
A learning disability is when an individual has a reduced ability to understand information. Individuals with a learning disability can also find it difficult to communicate and it can affect their independence. People with learning disabilities can have difficulty with everyday tasks such as household chores, managing budget and even socialising.
Here at Linday Multi services, we can support you to achieve these tasks and more. Whatever you’re doing, whether at home, going out, finding education or employment, we’re committed to providing exceptional care and support for you.
We’ll work with you and your support network to create your support plan and involve you in choosing your support workers, providing you with staff who understand you. We provide specific learning disability training for our staff to ensure our care and support meets your needs.
Autism
Individual with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), including Asperger’s syndrome, share certain difficulties – with communication, with interacting with other people and with imagining, such as situations that have not been experienced, changes in routine or other people’s behaviour, intentions or viewpoints.
ASD condition affects individual differently, and may also be complicated by other issues, including learning disabilities or difficulties, dyslexia, language development difficulties and epilepsy.
At Linday, we understand that people with autistic spectrum conditions may have needs that challenge traditional, less flexible forms of service provision. The complexity of the condition makes a person-centred approach, like the way we work at Linday essential.
Our approach also includes ensuring that our support workers are trained to understand the difficulty people with autism and Asperger’s may face with day-to day-issues – like making choices or interpreting body language or social signs – and offer appropriate support, including identifying and using communication tools and strategies that each individual finds most helpful.
In providing our supported living services and outreach, we work with each service user and those closest to them to support them in moving towards a more independent lifestyle and achieving positive outcomes.
Acquired Brain Injury
An acquired brain injury (ABI) can result from conditions including stroke, brain tumours, infection, poisoning, hypoxia, ischemia, encephalopathy or substance abuse.
While the cause may vary, an ABI is likely to result in both physical and emotional effects. In some cases it will lead to permanent disability and can affect an individual’s understanding, emotions and behaviour, potentially creating long-term health and other care needs and taking individuals in new and challenging directions.
Linday flexible services are ideally suited to support you to live independently, either within our supported living services or in your own homes.
Working with you, your families and other stakeholders, we design and deliver person-centred care packages designed to support you in living life the way you choose and in moving towards greater independence.
Mental Health
We understand that poor mental health can lead to homelessness and people with mental health problems can sometimes find it difficult to secure and maintain good quality accommodation.
Through day-to-day support our clients are able to stabilise their lives and begin the journey towards recovery.
For some this may mean feeling content and well, while others may want to live the best life they can while dealing with the every-day symptoms of their condition.
We help people by encouraging them to think about their strengths and abilities, and the changes they can make in their lives to take control, reach their goals and achieve improved mental wellbeing.
We help people to work towards achieving their personal goals at their own pace. As our client’s needs change, the level of support they receive from us can be adapted to match.
